Air-to-air heat exchangers are passive and improve heat dissipation from electronic equipment to a colder environment. In this way, the overall thermal resistance of the electronic system can be reduced, and the temperature of the system and components can be reduced. Alternatively, the heat sink allows more power to be dissipated at the specified maximum operating temperature.
